Thich Quang Do- Buddhist monk that has been imprisoned numerous times for this crusade for democracy in his homeland of Vietnam.

Lidia Yusupova- Russian attorney who fights for human rights victims in Chechnya. She documents human rights abuses committed by both Russian Soldiers and Chechen rebels and fights for justice on behalf of the victims.

Sima Samar- She is doctor in Afghanistan. She was forced to flee communist forces in the mid-80's with her husband and worked in the refugee camps in Pakistan caring for others that fled the communist regime. She established the Shuhada Organization which was dedicated to the provision of health care to Afghan women and girls, training of medical staff and to education. After the fall of the Taliban she returned to Afghanistan and served a the Woman's Rights Minister. She was forced to resign after religious conservatives threatened her with death for fighting for Afghan women's' rights.
