Our nation's debt is literally indenturing our children to our international debt holders, but most Americans don't care because they are more concerned about the latest saga involving Snooki on Jersey Shore rather than what really matters, our country’s future.

Panic in Tokyo!

Tokyo was not in the path of the tsunami and is 180 miles south of the nuclear power plant, yet the store shelves are empty. Why and what lesson can we learn from this disaster? The lesson is  verysimple. People who are scared do irrational things. I am sure some people in Tokyo needed to buy food after the tsunami because it was their regular shopping day but it looks like everyone assumed that there would be no more food ever and their actions actually created a food shortage.

Every American has an obligation to make sure that their family will have enough to eat should a natural or man made disaster strike. There are at least 6 nuclear power plants that are within 180 miles of NYC. What do you think would happen in our area if a nuclear power plant was damaged like the one in Fukushima? Now the likelihood of a meltdown at Indian Point is probably lower than my changes of winning the Mega Millions, which means we need to acknowledge the potential threat but not live in constant fear of it. However, eventually something bad will happen whether its a minor as a blizzard or as disastrous as a Cat 5 hurricane so take the time to be prepared because even in a very controlled closed society like China the instinct to survive causes people to do irrational things.
